We’ve been in nonstop Swiftie fangirl mode ever since Taylor Swift released her highly anticipated sixth studio album Reputation just last week. The album is better than we could have ever imagined. Not only are the songs amazing, but Taylor has been blowing our minds with the live performances of these tracks. It had been so long since we’d seen Taylor take the stage, so we’re happy to report that she’s back and better than ever. But no performance has changed our lives more that Taylor’s recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Taylor made an unscheduled appearance on The Tonight Show to perform “New Year’s Day” for a super special reason. Host Jimmy Fallon sadly lost his mother recently, and last night’s show was his first time back since her passing. Because of this, Taylor came on the show to dedicate her “New Year’s Day” performance to Jimmy.
The performance was nothing short of emotional. Taylor accompanied herself on the piano and let her incredible voice be the main focus of the performance. The song was emotional for everyone, but no one was more touched that Jimmy himself. We’re sure it was incredibly difficult for him to return to the show after the loss of his mother, but we’re glad that Taylor was able to make a last minute appearance on the show to dedicate this song to Jimmy.
